The platform / Embedded engineering

Embedded engineering.

Two- to thirty-engineer teams deployed full-time, drawn from the Gateway Group operating organization, with delivery aligned to our target markets across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and India.

The throughput problem

A €2M ARR company cannot ship a new commercial module, harden its data architecture, integrate with three new customer systems, and rebuild its onboarding - all in a single quarter - using its existing twelve engineers. It also cannot hire its way out in time. Senior engineering hiring cycles in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and the Nordics now run six to nine months from open requisition to onboarded productivity.

The math no longer works for a company on a 24-month operating timeline.

What we deploy

  • Team size: 2–30 engineers. Sized to the operating thesis, not to a pricing model.
  • Full-time, integrated with the founder's CTO. Not a project team. Not advisors. Not consultants on quarterly retainers.
  • Drawn from the Gateway Group operating organization. Multi-discipline (frontend, backend, data, infra, security, ML), aligned to our target markets across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and India.
  • Deployment lengths: 9–24 months for the initial engagement; longer durations for portfolio companies pursuing geographic expansion.

Why this is different from a dev shop

Three differences are material. First, the operating teams are equity-aligned with portfolio outcomes through TGC's investment, not transactionally compensated by the portfolio company. Second, deployments are milestone-driven, governed by the written operating thesis, and reviewed quarterly. Third, the relationship is structured as an investor-operator partnership, not a vendor-client arrangement.

Where engagements typically focus

  • Inference pipelines and AI integration layers (where AI is core to the product)
  • Multi-tenant architecture rebuilds for scale
  • Security and compliance work for enterprise procurement (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR-ready data residency)
  • Integration ecosystems (CRM, ERP, billing, identity)
  • Data engineering and warehousing for analytics product surfaces

Who runs the operating side

Embedded engagements are overseen by Rushikesh Raajeindra, Chief Operating Officer at TGC Capital Partners. Rushikesh runs the deployment of embedded teams from the Gateway Group operating organisation into portfolio companies - including engagement scoping, milestone governance, and the cross-portfolio coordination of engineering and GTM specialists. Investment-side oversight comes from the named partners assigned to each portfolio company.
